I'm looking to replace the T5 hanging in my 23"x25" veg space, it's an 8 bulb 2fter that is juuuust a bit too long one way so it sits at a slant which makes keeping an even canopy very difficult.

I'm not very familiar with LEDs - Have they progressed to the point that they're as good at vegging as T5s?

If so, which specific LED fixutre would be best for my space? The MarsII looks nice, but they say it has a 2. Good find! Is that not the case? Last edited: Feb 1, Is the MarsII too big for my 23"x25" space? Are LEDs even as good as or better than T5s for vegging? Until about the 3rd or 4th week of veg T-5 is the answer if your going to change go to cfl this light makes the plant reach up at week 4 or 5 put in led's and it will spread out and take off.

We Solidarity. Depending on how much space you have overhead this is the only light you really need, between flower and veg. LED is great for veg but I find the plants are more stocky and don't grow as fast. The cheapest option would be to find a t5 unit that is smaller, I used to veg under t-5 and have flowered under t-5 as well, they are the best option for grow lights for sure if you're doing a mini grow.

Don't buy Cfl bulbs like the hermit guy recommended you'll really hate yourself especially if an even canopy is what you're after.

I have a 24"x24" space and I have this 2 ft 8 bulb t5. Fits with room to spare. But I got the impression that you like your t5 fixture, and it just won't fit.

I searched for a bit before I found this specific fixture. It was the only one with 8 bulbs that would fit.

Smoking Gun. I am looking for some opinions from those who have experience with quantum boards. I do have some concerns about the coverage of the qb but HLGs specs say it would be efficient. In the worst case scenario I could always add supplemental lighting like T5 strips in the corners to add a bit of side lighting. The qb would probably be a bit more cost effective though. Just looking for thoughts an opinions. Also for those using HLG quantum boards what dimmer are you using or are you dimming the lights with the driver?

qb132 vs qb288

I love my qb v2 boards. Does anyone know if I could run them all off of the same driver? Im thinking of building one of these. Im trying to figure out how many boards can be run per driver. These are new to me and i want to figure everything out before i start orderung parts. NHWhites said:.

Last edited: Nov 13, Im hoping to recoup costs in electrical savings. On my s i use a number 1 philips screwdriver in the top of the ballasts to dim there is a port with a rubber plug on top and on the kits i got the external dimmer which is really easy to use.

In a 2x4 tent you might be better of with the s spread out just because of the oblong shape of the tent but im sure either way would work,Good Luck! The are great as well but I think I prefer the spread of the s.

DIY with Quantum Boards. Thread starter robincnn Start date Nov 19, Tags diy diy boards qb quantum boards samsung lm c. Prev 1 … Go to page. Go to page. First Prev of Go to page. TravisG13 Well-Known Member. Alright guys I jumped the gun and ordered a 4 pack of the hlg qb v2 k quantum boards and I dont remember where I read something that gave me the idea that a meanwell hlgh-ca would be a good driver for it but I went ahead and ordered one I need help understanding the drivers because the lights just came in and said I could look up recommended boards for those lights and it looks like the driver might be a little more powerful than the ones recommended, looks like the most powerful one they recommend is a h-c Im under the impression that pushing 4 boards it will only give them each 60 watts, which might be great I don't really know these things But would I be better off using the driver I already ordered and just dimming it?

Seems like I could give the plants more light while still under driving them since they say max 75 watts, I could give them anywhere between 60 and 75 which I couldn't with the other driver right? Also what kind of meter is used to test what those are put at? The constant current driver will only supply mA max to each board in series.

It automatically only delivers the necessary DC voltage to achieve that current flow. Those boards will use approx w mA so 4 of them will be about w-should be fine maxed out, just dim as required.

TravisG13 I've seen folks running these in parallel too using the 2 QB's per h There are some great videos on all this too, if you really want to understand what's what:. Between Growmau5, Led Gardener. I forgot about those video's on the hlg website, there "golden". I would make a debauchery of a video like that So the pcb can be powered to 75 watts max Or either way it will adjust it to where its not pushing over 75 watts right?

The amperage could just be higher than desired so I would want to dim that to or lower?

I have their Version 2 Megacrop V2. THe little bit of silty product doesn't bother me. I am in Mokoko Coco which I have also been happy with. Last edited: Oct 13, Budzbuddha Well-Known Member. Working on the QBs and new exhaust setupsNo, definitely not. They are great lights and they perform exceptionally well. But they are not the second coming, as much of the hype would have you believe.

There are definitely some things you should be aware of. But everything said apart from specific numbers goes for the other quantum board lights as well. Dimensions: HID Equiv: watts 6' x 6' Veg 4. Dimensions: 11" x 9. As mentioned, this review focuses on the HLG V2 Spec for the specific numbers, but everything written here goes for the other quantum board lights as well.

Reviews of those would simply repeat everything said here. For the specs on the other fixtures, see the table above.

Horticulture Lighting Group 320 Watt XL Quantum Board LED Kit V2 Rspec

The biggest advantage of the Horticulture Lighting Group fixtures are the quality components. These high quality components are extremely efficient, delivering a high output, while consuming less power and generating less heat than almost every other light on the market. The other major advantage of HLG fixtures is the form factor. The large panel makes for a more even light distribution. That is a warm white i. The additional Osram LEDs add a nm deep red light that give plants a huge boost during the bloom stage.

It results in bigger and more potent yields. The light emitted by the HLG V2 RSpec is ideal for full cycle plant growth and is especially powerful for flowering. When it comes to HLG lights with a spectrum consisting only of K or K white light which is most of their other fixturesyou lose that extra flowering boost from the deep red light.

qb132 vs qb288

The K spectrum is a bit warmer more reddish than the K white light in the RSpec, so it is also great for flowering, but you do miss that additional deep red light. The K spectrum works well for flowering, too, but not as well as the RSpec or the K. For that reason, you want to go with the K spectrum if you are vegging only. If you are growing full cycle or flowering only, the RSpec spectrum is the best, with the K spectrum being a close second.

If you want an LED grow light that provides ultraviolet or infrared wavelengths, try the Phlizon series. That said, I usually prefer to just add some fluorescent bulbs for additional UV light, since it only really makes a difference during the last few weeks of flowering. And even that is disputed. As you can see, the coverage is much more even than most LED grow lights. Instead of sky-high PPFD readings in the center of the footprint and minuscule readings in the corners, the difference is not nearly as pronounced.

But of course there is still a difference. That is unavoidable. With a smaller fixture like most competitorslight to the corners of the coverage area has to travel further, since it is coming from the center of the area.

It loses much of its intensity by the time it reaches the canopy. With the larger HLG fixture, light does not have to travel nearly as far to reach the corners of the coverage area, since the large size of the fixture brings LED diodes much closer to the far corners. As a result, the light does not lose nearly as much of its intensity by the time it reaches the canopy.

This does mean less power in the center of the coverage area, but much more around the outside. Even with less power in the center, you still get a lot. Plenty for any type of plant.Skip to content.

QB132 vs PFD Sunboards

Forum rules. First time posting so I hope this is the appropriate place for my question s.

Ladder logic diagram for bottle filling system diagram base

I have purchased 4 QB 's and 2 QB 's, i plan on making a 3. I'm having a lot of trouble deciding on a driver to power this monster. Im not sure if it would be possible to run everything on one driver but I figured this would be the place to bring that idea out of the box.

I was planning on using two drivers, one for the 's and one for the 's. The option to dim the lights is nice but Id rather my quest for the best driver not depend if there is a dimable option or not. I am throwing around the idea of 2 more QB 's or 2 more QB 's or possibly 4 QB 96's, seeing as this will be my primary light for flower. To kick it up a notch I'll be tossing in 4 deep red QB 11's. Id love to hear your thoughts or suggestions but would be very grateful for some driver suggestions.

Hope to meet some cool like minded people in my quest to build the perfect led grow light! A type have internal dimming knobs built into the driver I'm waiting on them to drop the new boards here soon!!! It should be around 60w each correct?

Thanks again for your help. Any suggestions or questions welcome! This needs to cover a 4x4 area. Again please hit me with any suggestions, comments, or questions.

This is my first build and I am by no means an expert! You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. Knowing what is available i was thinking for a 4x4 area to use 4 qb 's k and 4 's k staggered, little more wiring but no big deal.

Also have 5 qb 's k and 2 's k hear for a build, was going to run 4 "s k from a h 54a for one flower room, and currently running a set up of 4 qb k board along with 2 's k board set up with 2 hlg h ca drivers.
